The company was founded in 1949 as the household appliance and lighting sector of Siemens-Electrogeräte GmbH with headquarters in Traunreut, Germany.
Since the spin-off from Siemens and the foundation of the Siteco brand in 1997, the company has developed to become one of the leading manufacturers of technical indoor and outdoor lighting which is employing approximately 1,250 people across the world. Since first of July 2011 Siteco belongs to OSRAM.

Since the beginning of 2008, with the new Technology and Design Center (TDC) in Traunreut Siteco offers a unique exhibition centre for lighting innovations and a suitable location for the exchange of information and expertise. The TDC presents itself as a think tank and architectonic stage for the development and presentation of new products, technologies and lighting concepts, and is also a forum and campus for seminars and training events for customers and lighting professionals.
