Halls, Traffic Zones
Traffic zones can be illuminated with daylight but in cases where they run through the centre of a building they require artificial lighting during working hours.
Questions of maintenance and energy consumption are of central importance and can be decisive when considering a lighting concept. A lighting management system can reduce operating expenses through the controlling of lighting levels according to time of day and use. In other situations, questions of design become more predominant with lighting concepts.
A monotonous impression of hall and traffic zone lighting can be offset with the planned use of wall or ceiling illumination, combined with the emphasis of architectural structures. From a designer`s point of view it is advantageous to use lighting for the highlighting of architectural elements such as embrasures or pillars or for accentuating entrances, exits and gathering points. Door areas to adjoining spaces should also be illuminated.
