Conformity of form and function

Architecture is not solely delineated by lighting effects - luminaires and lighting systems themselves are design elements and need to be carefully planned as architectural details.

This is why Siteco assigns design tasks to highly respected architects and designers, and as such, Siteco has developed design concepts together with Jan Störmer, Herzog de Meuron, Studio Rota, Kardoff Engineers and John Murphy Architects. In addition many products, for example the new products distinguished with the iF product design award 2011 such as Quadrature® 2 or DL® 20 LED, come about as a result of successful cooperation with the highly renowned team of Phoenix Design from Stuttgart.
 
Formal criteria as well as functionality play a part in the design of lighting, especially in connection with the relation of luminaire to architecture. As with a sculpture, they can either attract attention or be placed discreetly in the background. The lighting solution therefore results from the interaction between lighting needs, technical specifications, architectural structures and design considerations.

The Siteco design concept must be understood as being a synthesis of form and function, and the forms of Siteco lighting instruments are minimal and integrative. Good, qualitative design in this regard unites aesthetics and ergonomics with additional product characteristics such as quality, pricing, materials, costs, manufacturing processes and other factors. As such, Siteco takes great care with selection of materials, development and production.

iF product design awards:
The iF product design award counts as one of the world's most renowned and long-established design competitions. In 2011 two Siteco luminaires have asserted themselves in a highly qualified and internationally competitive environment.

Designpreis Deutschland 2012 - nominee:
The German Design Council offers this award once a year. Only products that have already won an international design award are allowed to compete.
