Protecting the environment, avoiding light immission

Light immission - an urban phenomenon, a condition of environmental pollution. The disturbing influence of light discharge from artificial light sources is defined by the German Immission Protection Bill as a detrimental environmental influence if it is the cause of nuisance, dinstinct disadvantages or danger.

Light immissions could for example be a disturbing illumination of living quarters or even glare effects. In order to avoid these, asymmetrical projectors (with flat covers) for certain outdoor installations are ideal. The asymmetrical light distribution results in strongly reduced light spill.

Light immission is a factor that should also be considered with the refurbishment of existing installations where symmetrical projectors are used. A great advantage with a reduction of light immission is an increase of lumen output upon the surface using the same power. Siteco have developed numerous solutions for the avoidance of light immission, for example the DL® 800.
