Lincoln University’s Main Academy Building was completed in the early 1990’s and was the first signature building on the ever expanding campus.  After a decade of intensive use, this flagship facility was in need of refurbishment.  The design brief given to Siteco was to create a sympathetic lighting solution coupled with a minimum amount of rewiring and repositioning work for the existing building services.

The spacious office areas of the Main Academic have concrete coffered ceilings and slabs, which limited the use of additional wiring points.  To ease the cost and time of installation and preserve the architecture of the spaces, Siteco designed and supplied an architectural linear carrier system, Quadrature Rail.  The rail allowed continuous wiring in the space in a visual consistent manner while also allowing flexibility in the location of the rail mounted luminaires.  The rail also provided the opportunity to use indirect lighting, which highlighted the coffered ceiling and created a more visually comfortable environment.

The Quadrature luminaires mounted on the rail provide a high quality lit environment for the staff.  Through the unique prism optic Eldacon technology used in this product, the luminiares provide a uniform, bright, and energy efficient light that addresses the current lighting guides for office environments.  The glare on the computer screens in the space is limited by the luminaire optics, allowing a flexible layout for all workstations.

Emergency lighting for the space is also provided through the Siteco design.  A discreet LED module mounted on the Quadrature Rail provides a visually integrated yet separate emergency module that helps to minimise maintenance costs.
