Glare-Free ELDACON® Technology Sets European Culture In Scene

In the Eremitage in St. Petersburg, visitors gain a really thorough impression of russian culture. But that’s not all. The more than 2,4 million visitors yearly are witnesses to a monumental in-scene setting with the aid of light. Elements of the lighting installation come from Traunreut.

For example, Siteco lighting instruments can be found in the Gallery For Antique Art. Of primary importance was to maintain the historical ambience of the hall but to create a modern lighting installation with ELDACON® light control that could optimally illuminate the exponents.
Quadrature luminaire track inserts with aluminium reflectors were installed upon the wall ledges, rendering them invisible for visitors. They emit indirect light to the cambered ceiling, accenting its surface and providing glare-free light for viewing the exponents. The result: the use of modern technology without changing the character of the hall.
The Ermitage is in every respect a superlative museum: it has over 3 million art objects ranging from primitive to modern times, distributed over about 1000 rooms within seven palaces. Paintings, graphics, antique statues, coins and other treasures are found behind the baroque and classical facades on the Newa, that even without their contents can be classified as architectural masterpieces.
