Sharjah Sees the Light With Siteco
The emirate of Sharjah is the third largest of the seven United Arab Emirates. It reaches from the Persian Gulf in the west to the Gulf of Oman in the east, and thus has two coastlines. For the last few years the emirate has implemented a road plan to break up and mobilise traffic congestion in the emirate and the town of Sharjah.
The bi-directional 4-6 lane Sharjah Ring Road is equipped with 2,550 SQ200 streetlighting luminaires. These were coated in the custom colour RAL 8017, and five different reflector and lamp positions were preset for the lighting deployment. High wattages of 400W and 600W ensure an optimal illumination for the large amount of busy traffic.
In summer of 2005, the Sharjah Ring Road was completed as the first phase of a comprehensive road and infrastructure construction programm.
