With Lumos, Siteco has developed an energy-efficient LED luminaire for cold stores for the sales-promoting illumination of fresh goods.
The luminaire presents products with perfection while avoiding reflections, glare and even shadowing on goods displayed. The LED shelf lighting convinces with low electricity costs, a long service life without maintenance costs and with individual fixing to all shelf systems. A head luminaire and shelf luminaire are available as well as special colour temperatures for the appetising and stimulating presentation of various product groups.
The streamlined housing of the shelf luminaire integrates itself into the flow circulation of cold stores and lowers energy requirements in the cooling cabinet. The LED lighting itself impresses with low power consumption: compared to fluorescent lamps it needs up to 60% less energy with the same level of brightness, and has a longer service life without maintenance costs. The heat produced by fluorescent lamps is non-existent with LEDs, and the low power LEDs used in the luminaire construction produce no heat radiation to the housing that thermally load goods, that would then in turn have to be cooled down.
Thanks to maximum flexibility, lengths, light colours and light distribution patterns can be adapted according to customer requirements and can be installed into all cold store and deep freeze cabinets with simple mounting accessories. The LED technology used is especially advantageous for meat products, but also for other UV-susceptible goods. The luminaires emit neither IR nor UV radiation, thus protecting foodstuffs and packaging materials. Hence the Lumos cold store luminaire with slight adaptations can be simply used for refrigerated cabinets displaying fresh goods.
Easily the largest energy consumer in food retail with approximately 65% are the cold stores. Optimisation in this area therefore points to high savings potential. The NRW energy agency has specified the relation between light and cooling: "Lamps in the cooling zones have a major disadvantage. About 30% of cooling energy is lost to compensate for the heat given off by the light sources." With the Lumos LED from Siteco an efficient solution to the problem has been achieved without compromising on convenience: instead of the frugal illumination of cooling zones, Lumos offers the right technology to efficiently set goods in scene.
